Multitude of Joy!

Just two days ago, a precious package arrived at my doorstep. It sat motionless and patiently until the recipient stumbled upon it... Unsurprisingly, the keepsakes buried within brought a multitude of joy. They are all creations from my best friend and I can't help but share them here!

...and here are the two little troublemakers now! Even the box was a gift in itself: a new playhouse for the cutest rats you'll ever find!

Julie, thank you
so much for adding so much COLOR to those who are fortunate to meet you! It comes to show how thoughtful you truly are.

  1. How embarassing.
As for the turtles, try stringing them up and hanging them somewhere from your ceiling!

btw, i just realized, did you draw that header pic? It's pretty awesomeness. And your cousin Jess is amazing. I wish I had done art as early as she.

  2. You shouldn't be! :-) Thanks for the recommendation. Stringing and hanging up the turtles sounds like a brilliant idea. It will definitely add a nice touch to the room.

I'm glad you enjoyed Jess's artwork. As much as I'd love to say we're related, she's not my cousin. I actually met her through a very good friend of mine named Sophia. Both of their artwork are absolutely incredible!

I thought you did start art as early as she did? Maybe we both didn't get the chance to draw as often as we desired but we all drew whenever we could (albeit time limitations and other hardships). If I remember correctly, her parents were also initially not that supportive of her art path. It all wells down to the decisions we make and how determined we were to pursue them. We could regret our actions but there's no denying that art could've been our path. I could've placed more faith in my artwork but I made of the mistake of smothering it instead; eliminating further development on my artistic ambitions. You could've overcome the endeavors that your art teacher placed back then...but found it painfully inhibiting instead. It's not easy...but I guess what I'm trying to say is, we live and learn. The most important thing now is that we still feel as passionate about art as we did before--and we're willing to let all creativity loose. :-)

As for the header pic...ya, I drew it. It's basically a compilation of things that I cherish in life: nature (my love of trees, terrariums, sprouting plants, mushrooms), the Pacific Northwest (how moss tends to grow on practically everything), Lucky and Snowball, Spencer (my beta fish), turtles, etc. The key symbolizes unlocking different realms in life as one progresses on their own path. I also use to collect keys as a child. The piano keys alludes to my appreciation of music. The ink bottle in which these keys wrap around go hand in hand with illustration. The gnomes are representative of environmental stewardship and the sci-fi buildings epitomize the fantastical world that allows for endless imagination. Metamorphism and change are also expressed in the form of the pencil transforming into a log and the paintbrushes becoming ancient and modern structures indicative of Vietnamese architecture (which ultimately embodies ART and our heritage).
